The story of Pieve Vecchia 2° is a tale of deep connection with the Tuscan land, steeped in tradition, guided by the Tamburini family, better known locally by the nickname "Cioli".

The origin of the company dates back to 1931, when the Tamburini family began cultivating the fields of Pieve Vecchia. For nearly four decades, the Tamburinis devoted themselves to farming the estate, establishing a deep and lasting bond with the land. The aspiration for independence became reality in 1970, when the family managed to purchase the property. To celebrate this milestone, the name Pieve Vecchia was changed to Pieve Vecchia 2°. From that moment on, activities focused on local agriculture: the production of wine, olive oil and cereals. The historic grape varieties were already present: Sangiovese was the benchmark for reds, while whites were based on Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca Lunga. A decisive moment for the winemaking identity came in 1975, with the planting of the Malvasia Bianca Lunga vineyard, a variety the estate has always cultivated and which, following the 1998 expansion, has today become fundamental to the production of the pure white wine.

FROM VECCHIA... TO VECCHIA 2

An important change came in 2012, driven by a need to protect the environment and the soil. Pieve Vecchia 2° chose to abandon conventional practices and embrace Organic Farming. Although the use of biodynamic preparations and lunar calendars was explored and later set aside, the philosophy of respect for the soil remained firm: the estate uses no chemical fertilisers, and fertility is managed through the practice of green manure, with Fava Bean as the protagonist. This legume, chosen for its high contribution of fertility and organic matter, is sown in alternating rows each year. The estate is completely self-sufficient in this practice, growing Fava Bean across 5 hectares of dedicated arable land. <a>DOWNLOAD THE CERTIFICATION</a>

AN IMPORTANT CHANGE

In more recent years, the evolution has not stopped with the planting of Vermentino and Malvasia di Candia in 2018, establishing the varieties destined for the creation of the wine <biancoLink>I'Bianco</biancoLink>. The last two years have marked a further innovative drive. The estate has embarked on a digitalisation of its image with the creation of a website, the opening of an e-commerce channel and the launch of an Instagram page. The goal is to plant new varieties always tied to the territory, rejecting the drift towards an overly commercial product and honouring, at every stage, the history, roots and tradition of the family.

Agape — spiritual love, passion, and dedication to our work, passed down through generations. This is the name we chose for our Sparkling Rosé.

Produced exclusively from Sangiovese, it is obtained from a saignée must after a maceration of 6–12 hours in contact with the skins, which defines its color and fruity intensity.

The sparkle is achieved through bottle refermentation following the ancestral method, guaranteeing a clean, stable and unfiltered wine. This process not only creates a natural bubble, but, together with the lees, gives body and depth. The aromatic profile is characterized by intense aromas of must and fruity notes typical of a young, sincere wine.

THE STORY OF AGAPE

It is the kind of sparkling rosé that speaks of spiritual love and ancient dedication. It is made from pure Sangiovese grapes with a brief bleeding process that enhances its colour and fruitiness. It undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle according to the ancestral method, remains unfiltered, alive with yeast and with a natural effervescence that seems light but underneath holds passion and memory.

AGAPE

Azzardo: this name reflects a commercial and production choice that, for the estate, was a true gamble.

Produced from a blend of Sangiovese and Colorino del Valdarno, the technique is aimed at guaranteeing maximum lightness. We use a 3-day maceration. This management of the must extracts aromas, vivid color, and a light structure, while above all avoiding excessive tannin extraction.

The result is a modern and functional red: fruity, with character but without heaviness, ideal for fresh consumption. "Azzardo" proves that it is possible to achieve color and aromas with an agile, contemporary drinkability.

THE STORY OF AZZARDO

A blend of Sangiovese and Colorino del Valdarno that macerates for just three days to take on colour and aromas without taking itself too seriously. Fruity, light, agile: it arrives in the glass with character, but without demanding your attention, ready to prove that even a small risk can be deliciously rewarding.

I'Bianco — the name, direct and immediate, is already our statement: a wine deeply rooted in the most authentic Tuscan tradition.

This historic estate blend is composed of Malvasia di Candia, Vermentino, and Trebbiano, grapes long cultivated on our estate. The skilful union of these varieties creates a white wine of great reliability.

Created to enhance freshness and varietal simplicity, "I'Bianco" is a sincere, immediate, and versatile wine typical of Tuscan tradition. The perfect companion for everyday drinking, a glass that speaks clearly and accompanies the daily table with ease.

THE STORY OF I'BIANCO

It is a white wine that does not mince words: Malvasia di Candia, Vermentino and Trebbiano come together, converse with each other and give life to a sincere, fresh and versatile wine. It arrives in the glass straightforward, immediate, without frills, ready to be enjoyed at the table every day without seeking applause, but winning it nonetheless.

Our Chianti is not just a wine, it is the "Story of a Family" captured in a bottle. "Cioli" is the nickname that has distinguished us for generations in Cerreto Guidi, a symbol of our identity and our bond with this land.

Born from the selection of Sangiovese and Colorino del Valdarno, which give the wine unique structure and aromatic intensity. Fermentation in stainless steel preserves freshness and varietal aromas, while subsequent aging in concrete brings balance and shapes its character. A sip that celebrates Tuscan tradition and the pride of being Cioli.

It is that Chianti that presents itself as ‘Cioli’ in Cerreto Guidi, a nickname that has become an identity, born from Sangiovese and Colorino del Valdarno, fermented in steel to preserve freshness and aromas, aged in cement to find balance, and then raised in a glass with the quiet pride of those who know where they come from.

CIOLI

Our Rosé takes its name from Fiorina, a fundamental and beloved figure in our family history. This pure Sangiovese rosé combines the lightness of white wine with the body of red wine. Obtained through salasso after 6-12 hours of contact with the skins, it stands out for its intense fruitiness and unmistakable freshness.

 A sip of “Fiorina” is an invitation to conviviality and a fond memory with a complex and irresistibly drinkable rosé.

THE STORY OF FIORINA

It is the type of Rosé that comes from pure Sangiovese grapes. It undergoes a brief bleeding process after a few hours of contact with the skins to take on colour and character, combining the lightness of a white wine with the temperament of a red wine. It returns to the glass with freshness, fruitiness and that irresistible desire for another sip.

FIORINA

Malvagia is the name our grandparents used, in Tuscany, to refer to Malvasia Bianca Lunga.

When our grandparents could not control sugars, this sparkling wine was born by chance; today it is produced as a single-varietal wine: we apply the Ancestral Method. Leaving behind the improvisation of the past, we have refined the technique to control bottle refermentation. This allows us to obtain a wine that is clean, stable, and free of defects, while preserving the rustic character of the method.

The result is a young, unfiltered wine. The presence of lees in suspension positively influences body and complexity. The aromatic profile is dominated by intense notes of must, while the bubble is delicate and not invasive, perfectly integrated into the structure. A product that combines the simplicity of the past with the technical precision required today.

THE STORY OF MALVAGIA

It is the type of wine that was created by chance when grandparents were unable to stop the sugars from developing. Today, it is pure Malvasia Bianca Lunga, produced using the Ancestral Method, refermented in the bottle with care and patience, unfiltered, with suspended yeasts, the aroma of must and a subtle effervescence that remains rustic, but finally knows exactly what it is doing.

MALVAGÌA

This wine is born from the meeting of two vineyards and two distinct soils, a union that transforms diversity into harmony. Its complexity is the result of a carefully studied blend between two historic vineyards, where soil and plant genetics play complementary roles.

The 1975 vineyard, rooted in a mid-hill fertile soil, is supported by a vigorous rootstock that gives the wine its pronounced freshness and the characteristic aroma of the variety. On the other hand, the 1998 vineyard, planted on poorer soil with a low-vigor rootstock, forces the vineyard to produce small clusters and berries. This concentration gives the wine its structure and greater character. It is fermented in steel tanks to respect the variety: a white wine that combines immediate drinkability with character.

THE STORY OF MALVASIA

It is the kind of wine that brings together a vineyard from 1975 and one from 1998, drawing freshness from the generous hillside and character from the poorer soil, allowing them to interact naturally in steel vats and offering you a ready-to-drink white wine that, deep down, has a lot to say.

MALVASIA BIANCA LUNGA

Born from the union of Trebbiano, Malvasia di Candia, and Vermentino, this Passito is an expression of our land and its tradition.

The grapes, harvested by hand, are left to dry in small crates, concentrating sugars and aromas. After a gentle pressing, a slow fermentation begins, followed by a long aging period of at least 36 months in small wooden containers.”

THE STORY OF PASSITO

It is the type of Passito that combines Trebbiano, Malvasia di Candia and Vermentino grapes, harvested by hand and left to dry patiently until the sugars and aromas are concentrated. It then ferments slowly and rests for at least 36 months in small wooden barrels, returning to the table with the calmness of those who know how to wait.

PASSITO

It carries the name of our company because it is not just a wine: it is a story of quality, grown in our sole Sangiovese vineyard, facing South-East, on a predominantly clay soil that gives structure and character. The Pieve Vecchia 2 is produced exclusively in the best vintages, when rain and sun grant us excellent balance.

Quality, for us, is born from care: we perform a green harvest before veraison, discarding part of the production to allow the remaining clusters to mature perfectly. It continues with leaf thinning, carried out fifteen days before harvest to expose the clusters to the last rays of sun, and culminates with manual harvesting, which allows us to carefully select grapes directly in the vineyard.

Fermentation takes place in a fiberglass vat, where for fifteen days we carry out manual punch-downs to extract color and polyphenols. We use exclusively the free-run wine, the noblest part of the pressing, which is aged for one year in 5 hl Tonneaux: a choice to highlight the expression of our Sangiovese, without masks.

It is the kind of wine that takes responsibility for representing you. It comes from a single Sangiovese vineyard facing south-east, on true clay soil. It is only grown in the best vintages and matured with almost stubborn care, without masks.

Produced entirely from Sangiovese grapes, this wine represents the backbone of our production. We select Sangiovese for its typicity, vinifying it to obtain a red wine that is immediate, fresh, and pleasantly drinkable.

It is a straightforward and reliable red, created for the table. "I'Rosso" is the perfect wine to open and enjoy every day, a glass that embodies the simplicity of tradition and accompanies daily cuisine with ease.
